Book Launch!

The "She Writes" Anthology was launched March 3rd at a complimentary celebration held in Clubhouse 7, Laguna Woods with Barbara Potter of the Orange County Register acting as emcee. Over 180 guests enjoyed champagne, caviar, and refreshments while being entertained by eclectic violinist Paul McIntire and poets John Gardiner, Shayla Rosofsky, Joan E. Bauer, Ricki Mandeville, and John Perry. The celebration was hosted by independent publisher MaryAnn Easley and Jann Harmon, anthology book designer. All 43 contributors and members of the Windflower Press staff were introduced during the evening's festivities when contributors saw the book for the first time.

Writing and reading decreases our sense of isolation. They deepen and widen and expand our sense of life; they feed the soul. When writers make us shake our heads with the exactness of their prose and their truths, and even make us laugh about ourselves or life, our buoyancy is restored. We are given a shot at dancing with, or at least clapping along with, the absurdity of life, instead of being squashed by it over and over again. It’s like singing on a boat during a terrible storm at sea. You can’t stop the raging storm, but singing can change the hearts and spirits of the people who are together on that ship.
